History

Established 1875

The Rosebloom Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1875.  Bro. Alfred Blount deeded one acre of land for the church to be built.  The Rosebloom Baptist Church pastors, officers and members served in this church throughout the 1800's.

After the 1900's came in Bro. M. Jeter built the former church building.  The Rev. A. Griner served as pastor.  In later years, Rev. Jim Cannon served as pastor. 

In the 1930s, Rev. H. Harrell was pastor.  Bro. Henry Blount was choir director and Sis. Mattie Cheatham was the first pianist.  Rev. N.F. Fisher organized the Baptist Training Union.  Rev. M.L. Williams was pastor in the 1940s. Bro. John Cade and Bro. J.B. Smith were ordained as deacons under Rev. Williams. 

  • 1951 - 1966

    From 1951 to 1955, Rev. P.G. Dearbon was pastor.  Sis. Versie Cade was appointed as choir director.  From 1955 to 1966, Rev. H. Peacock served as pastor.  Bro. Albert Wallace was ordained as a deacon under Rev. Peacock.    

  • 1966 - 1985

    From 1966 to 1970, Rev. M. Harrison pastored the Rosebloom Missionary Baptist Church.  Bro. C.A. Twine and Bro. Granson Adams were ordained as deacons under Rev. Harrison's leadership.  From 1970 to 1985, Rev. R.L. Walker was pastor.  Bro. James Traylor, Sr., and Bro. Ruffin Hadnot were ordained as deacons under Rev. Walker's leadership.

  • 1985 - 2001

    From 1985 to 2001, Rev. Jerry M. Lewis served as pastor of the Rosebloom Missionary Baptist Church.  The Inspirational Choir and Mass Choir were organized.  In 1991, two young ministers were called to the ministry under the leadership of Rev. Lewis.  They are Rev. Bro. Barry Keys and Rev. Bro. Patrick Haskell.  Bro. Billy Ray Adams, Sr., Bro. John Sells, Sr., Bro. Louis Ross, Bro. James Tukes, Bro. Jackie Gill, and Bro. Arthur Joe McCarter were ordained as deacons under Rev. Lewis.

  • 2002 - 2004

    In February 2002, Rev. Billy R. Grogan, Sr. became pastor of Rosebloom.  Rosebloom changed to full time worship.  The Sunday School was reorganized to improve Christian Education.  On March 16, 2003, the Rosebloom Missionary Baptist Church dedicated its cornerstone.  On September 6, 2003, Bro. Curtis Hafford was ordained as a deacon.  In 2004, the church purchased a small piece of land on the east side of the church.

2004 - 2019

Rosebloom awarded scholarships to students, provided a monthly stipend to those attending college, supports Foreign  and Home Mission, the African Relief Program, fire and burn victims and prepares Thanksgiving baskets to help during the holiday season.  During the year 2012, construction began on the new edifice which is the current church building.

In April 2013, Rev. Anthony L. Haney, Sr., became pastor of Rosebloom.  Men's / Women's Sunday School classes were implemented, Brotherhood, Women of Purpose, and Youth Bible study were established.  First Sunday Fellowship Dinner, Youth Revivals, Leadership Conferences and increased In-Home Mission visits were implemented.  The installation of the original church bell was added to the church grounds in a tower.  The church celebrated its five-year mortgage burning on September 24, 2017 on the edifice built in 2012

2019 - Present

On February 16, 2019, Rosebloom had its First Celebration of Love Gala.  During the COVID 19 Pandemic, Rosebloom shifted to parking lot worship on Sundays and Zoom online midweek Bible study.  A church social media page was formed for online viewers to join in worship at "The Bloom". On November 6, 2021, Rosebloom was designated as a site for COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic.  On January 15, 2022, Rev. Haney implemented the Trustee Ministry at Rosebloom.  QR codes were developed for the completion of documents and the church's own email address was established.

A Building for Kingdom Growth Ministry ( B4KG) was established consisting of eight individuals.  On May 15, 2023, Rosebloom sponsored a Community-wide Fish Fry Evangelistic Fellowship and gave away meals and encouragement.  On December 17, 2023, Rosebloom Youth decorated and entered a float in the Jasper Chamber of Commerce Annual Christmas Parade for the first time in the church's history.
